Two Eternal Stars: Seydina Mandione Lahi and Seydina El Hadji Abdoulaye Thiaw Lahi, Guardians of the Mahdi’s Legacy

On Monday, June 23, 2025, the Layene community gathers in reverence and remembrance to honor two noble heirs of the Imam Al-Mahdi (asws): Seydina Mandione Lahi and Seydina El Hadji Abdoulaye Thiaw Lahi. Their lives, deeply rooted in divine mission and spiritual leadership, remain luminous beacons for generations of believers.

Seydina Mandione Lahi (rta), the second Caliph of Imam Al-Mahdi (asws), led the Layene Community with humility and unwavering discipline for 22 remarkable years, from 1949 to 1971. A faithful guardian of the divine message of his father, Seydina Limamou Lahi (asws), and his elder brother, Seydina Issa Rouhou Lahi (asws), he remains a revered figure. His mausoleum in Yoff stands today as a sanctuary of reflection and prayer.

Seydina El Hadji Abdoulaye Thiaw Lahi (rta), the fifth Caliph and son of Seydina Issa Rouhou Lahi (asws), was born in 1926. He served the Community with deep devotion from 2001 until his return to the Lord on August 9, 2021. He rests in Camberene, in the Mausoleum of the Messiah (asws), a sacred place of spiritual retreat and divine light.

June 23 is more than a date on the calendar. It is a spiritual journey into the heart of Layene memory—a return to the luminous path of two leaders who shaped the Community’s destiny through truth, dignity, and prophetic transmission.

Their names echo like sacred chants:
Seydina Mandione Lahi, the silent architect of unity,
Seydina El Hadji Abdoulaye Thiaw Lahi, the steadfast messenger of continuity.

May their legacies continue to inspire future generations.
And may their resting places remain sources of divine illumination for all seekers of the Mahdi’s (asws) path.
